Greetings Meyer Middle School Families! My name is Mark Chapin and I am proud to serve as your principal at Meyer Middle School. Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!
The River Falls community is a great place to grow up, raise kids, and go to school. I attended Westside Elementary School, the River Falls Junior High School, and graduated from River Falls High School in 1990. After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where I majored in Education with a minor in Special Education. I received my master's degree in Educational Leadership form Minnesota State Mankato and I completed my Doctorate degree from Bethel University in 2019. My dissertation focused on my passions of Character Education, Leadership and Organizational change.
My educational career started in 1996. I taught 1st grade at the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal School in Hayward, WI. From there I spent 12 years teaching in the Ellsworth Community School District. I served as a special education teacher for six years at Ellsworth Senior High School and six years as an eighth grade social studies teacher at Ellsworth Middle School. I had the honor of serving as the assistant principal at Ellsworth Senior High School my last year before coming to Meyer Middle School in 2009.
My wife Cary proudly served in the Minnesota Air National Guard as a C-130 pilot and retired in 2011 after five deployments and 20 years of service. We have four children: Matthew, Christopher, Erik, and Emma.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, fly fishing on the Kinni, and mountain biking.
I look forward to sharing with you more about Meyer Middle School and all it has to offer. Welcome to our school!
