At Meyer Middle School we are collectively committed to the academic growth, character development, and well-being of every student, every day. This is why we do what we do.
Our success at MMS begins with our caring, supportive and dedicated staff who strive to create a positive, safe and engaging learning environment for ALL students. We take pride in hiring and retaining high quality teachers and support staff.
Meyer Middle School has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon School (1999-2000) and a National School of Character (2016). We serve approximately 740 students in grades 6-8. We operate with a two house system: Blue House & Gold House, and our counselor-to-student ratio is one of the lowest in the state at approximately 247:1.
At MMS we encourage students to get involved. We offer a wide range of activities and clubs for students to shine and explore their talents and interests.
We operate within a modified block schedule. Each day begins with a 19-minute Teacher Advisory (TA) period, which helps our students get off to a good start to their day. This time builds a sense of belonging while developing positive character traits, provides an opportunity for staff to check in with the student on student academic progress, and brings a little fun along to each day.
We offer numerous exploratory courses and several elective courses including: foreign language (Spanish and French), Health, Gateway to Technology, STEM, Careers, Music in Education, Art, Connect, Band, Choir and Physical Education.
Our teacher teams meet daily to discuss student needs and to help ALL students feel supported and connected. MMS is a 1:1 environment; all students are provided a chromebook for the school year.
