Since 2010, the District has built a foundation of character education in its culture, inspiring young people to understand, care about, and practice the character strengths that will enable them to flourish in school, in the workplace, and as citizens.
With input from our community and staff, the District established 9 positive character traits as a foundation in our district's character education program. Our students practice and model these core values that shape our hearts, minds, and choices:
A district-wide Character Education Committee helps promote and grow character education throughout the River Falls school community. Each elementary school also has a character council, comprised of students who promote events and activities that help promote the district's foundational character traits and serve the school and broader community.
The School District of River Falls has received 38 Character Education awards since 2012.
