School Closing Information

District Weather and Emergency Communication Plan

Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is a top priority for the School District of River Falls. Decisions to close or delay school are made based on road conditions, weather forecasts, and other factors, such as air temperature and wind chill. Each weather event is evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine the best course of action.

Morning Weather Decisions

If weather conditions necessitate a school closure or delay, every effort will be made to make a decision by 5:30 a.m. Communication to staff, students, and families begins promptly after the decision, including notifications to the transportation department and Kids Club. Please ensure your contact information in Infinite Campus is accurate and up to date.

School closing and early dismissal

In the event of school closing or early dismissal, all extra-curricular activities, including Community Education classes, will also be cancelled or postponed unless otherwise announced. Kids Club will not operate when schools are closed due to inclement weather.

Emergency or Weather-Related Updates During School Hours

In the event of an emergency or a weather-related change to the school day, it is important to access accurate and timely information through the following channels:

Automated Phone Calls and Email Notifications: Notifications are sent through our automated calling service, followed by email and text messages.

District and School Websites: Updates will appear on the School District of River Falls website immediately after a decision is made.
