The School District of River Falls takes data privacy very seriously, and has implemented a multi-tier approach for reviewing and approving the web services we use in our buildings and classrooms. This practice aligns with the following federal and state data privacy laws:
Wisconsin State Law 118.125
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA)
To ensure compliance with these state and federal mandates, the District’s Technology Department publishes and maintains a list of approved digital resources for student and staff access which meet our data security requirements. Access to unapproved web tools should be requested for review and approval by the District Technology Department before they are used.
The digital resources on this list reflect applications and websites currently approved for district use. In most cases, the technology partner has signed the Wisconsin Student Data Privacy Agreement (WSDPA). Providers that have not signed a data privacy agreement with the district can be approved if their policies meet specific thresholds as defined by third party data privacy evaluators.
In addition to data privacy considerations, the educational sites and applications on this list are also reviewed by the Academic Services department to ensure they align to school and grade-level curriculum. This is by no means intended to be an exhaustive list of every digital tool accessed in the district, but is a living document representing our most commonly used and known resources; resources may be added or removed throughout the academic year.
