Hunger Prevention Council of Pierce County

The Hunger Prevention Council coordinates the distribution of food to six pantries in Pierce County.

River Falls Food Pantry

Serves any person in need of food who lives within the River Falls School District. The food shelf does not require proof of income or residency at this time. They have a wide variety of food such as meat, dairy, eggs, bread, and canned goods. Customers can shop and can pick out what they want.

Our Neighbors Place

Provides support, shelter, and housing services for  Pierce and St. Croix counties. Our Neighbors Place has four programs designed to help meet basic needs. The Day Center provides housing support and general advocacy. The transitional housing program supports a family’s need for shelter and security. The backpack program works to meet the nutritional needs of children, and the Closet store provides free or reduced-price clothing.

Summer Backpack program: WEEKLY bag of non-perishable food and grocery store vouchers for households in need. No income verification required Pick up bag at 122 W Johnson St. (Our Neighbors Place Day Center).  The program runs from June 10 - Aug 26.  

To sign up for the summer program you will need:

  1. Parent/guardian name and cell phone number
  2. Student name/grade level in the fall/school they attend  

Families can sign up by calling the Day Center (715-426-9000) or by emailing: director@ourneighborsplace.org and providing the above info. All families will receive Family Fresh vouchers over the summer and all families will need  to pick up their weekly bags at the Day Center (122 W Johnson St). 


Tools for School

Gives out school supplies to students in need.  First National Bank is partnering with Tools for Schools and will be providing shoes at the distribution event. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

Location: First Congregational Church, corner of 3rd and Elm. 

Event Dates:

Monday, August 18, Picnic Meal 5-6 p.m. School supplies and shoes available 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, August 19th, School supplies and shoes available 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

 


Wiley's Wardrobe

A free resource located at the high school in the counseling office and is open during school hours or by appointment. The wardrobe is open to all students, no questions asked. Wiley's Wardrobe has gently used clothing, personal care items, snacks, shoes, and school supplies.

Summer Activities

Summer School - School District of River Falls

Free summer school classes are available each summer for School District of River Falls students. Dates and times vary, but generally there are two sessions. Classes are available at the elementary and middle school level, with various high school offerings as well.

School Forest

Visit the 70-acre parcel of pristine forest land along the Kinnickinnic River. Trails are available and open to the community, including a Trek Trek activity that is a self-guided tour leading visitors through a forest to see and learn about different tree species. This property represents a diverse outdoor educational classroom, consisting of oak and central hardwood forests, floodplain, and a former agriculture field undergoing native prairie restoration.

Grow to Share

A 501C3 non-profit garden located in River Falls WI. Grow to Share's mission is to facilitate a volunteer-based collaborative garden, promote experiential learning, foster healthy & sustainable community, and share the harvest.

River Falls Community Education

River Falls Community Education (RFCE) provides classes and activities, connecting citizens, resources, and creating creating lifelong learning opportunities as individuals share their knowledge, skills, and interests with one another. Scholarships available with no income qualifications.

Parks and Recreation Summer 2025 Activity Guide

To sign up:

  1. Mail the registration form to City Hall with your payment or drop off the registration form at City Hall with your payment
  2. Drop off form at City Hall during business hours
  3. Call the Parks and Rec office at 715-425-0924

Scholarships available: If there is a financial hardship that would prevent your child from participating, please contact Brenda Rundle at 715-426-3420 for scholarship information. You will be asked to fill out a registration form and write “scholarship request” on it.
